Boxing Day splash.

Over 10,000 people braved the cold weather to raise money for a good cause this boxing day. The charity in question being Royal national lifeboat institute, who sadly have had all funding cut by the government. This has caused outrage in the local area with residents of Brixham and Torbay protesting against the government’s decision to scrap The lifeboats, a vital life saver in the sometimes treacherous water conditions surrounding Torbay.

Paul Henley (pictured above) took part in the charity swim and raised over £400, armed with only a pink Tutu, skimpy bra and pink glittery wig, he took the plunge alongside 1,000’s of others into the freezing December water on Teignmouth beach.

“ It was a pleasant surprise to witness the sheer volume of people willing to raise money for this troubled charity, not as appreciated as other big charities, the work the rnli do is vital to the safety of regular sea-goers and tourists alike. Despite the freezing cold, it was a great laugh and a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together to support an amazing organisation”.
