POD's ADVICE CORNER:

Surviving 2012 the Christmas Season

It's that time of year again, when all of your family get together to bitch and moan about the crappy presents that they received and get drunk on egg nog and brandy and end up dislocating hips and shoulders playing Twister. Cringe.

But fear not! Just when you think that you might just smack your gran over the head with your Wii remote if she takes her false teeth out to show you the left over turkey stuck in them one more time, step back and take a look below at five ways you can survive your family at Christmas!...Update- use this advice for all family parties, reunions.. or just every day life.

  1. If you can't beat them, join them: If your family are driving you nuts with board games, brandy and mince pies then take a deep breath, have a few shots of whatever alcohol you can find and join in. You will soon forget just how sad you look with a paper hat on your head.
  2. Get drunk: Yup, drown out the embarrassment of your folks singing their awful rendition of 'Merry Christmas' on the karaoke by getting proper sloshed. Go on, 'tis the season after all!
  3.  Hide in your room: If it really is that cringe-worthy, then get yourself up in your bedroom, barracade the door with whatever you can and moan about everything and everyone on Facebook.
  4. Get out your Ipod: If you really can't get away from everyone, then descreetly stick your earplugs in your ears and drown out your aunty Mavis's annoying questions about your life with a bit of rock. Just nod and smile if people approach you... they will never know!
  5. Pretend you have loads of course work: Get out your laptop, stick in your headphones and tell everyone that you are really sorry but you have loads of work to do for college. Then stick on your copy of Kick Ass and enjoy the Christmas movie!
