P.O.D World: People of Devon

HEY MY FELLOW PODS :D

I'M LAURA AND I'M YOU'RE GIRL FOR THE AXE VALLEY AND SURROUNDING AREA!!

ITS NOT ALWAYS FUN LIVING OUT HERE, FEELING A LITTLE LIKE YOU'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, BUT BELIEVE ME, I'M JUST LIKE YOU AND WANT TO FIND SOME FUN STUFF IN THE AREA TO DO!!

I live a busy student life but i am also already a news reporter for the local area. And I for one know how little there is to do for young people around here!

I spend hours on end reading council agendas and attending coffee mornings and charity events, but other than youth groups for younger children and the odd occassion, little is there for our generation!

Although i love my job and it represents the community, I'm here armed and ready to provide you with the down low on whats cool for you and what we can do other than wondering the lanes in our wellies or boozing on the beach!!!!

Enjoy <3 x

I took the above picture the other day, feeling the sense of new year, 2012!

Despite there being not much to do around now, we are lucky to live here, just look how beautiful it is!!
Just think we could be in worst areas, so if we are going to be bored, lets at least be bored in a beautiful place all together!!

Lost in Conflict are a five piece metal band based around Seaton and Axminster. Renowned for crazy energetic gigs, LIC sound like a mixture between A7x’s finger splitting riffs and Asking Alexandria’s heavy breakdowns. After just releasing their new self-titled E.P, they’re preparing for a busy gig period including a ten-day tour around the UK. Perfect for all you local metal heads, LIC’s powerful vocals and brutal yet melodic sound will get your heads banging.

P.O.D. TALKS TO LOST IN CONFLICT

I went along to check out Lost in Conflict, popular and well known band based in the Axe Valley...

Not a gig, but a band practice, and little did i know quite how much mucking about happened at these things!

Whilst trying to conduct an interview, it became far easier for the guys to make a joke out of everything to do with it, and very quickly, the shenanigans and silly behaviour began!

Because of the nature of the interview, we decided to put together something of a video moodboard of randomness for you to enjoy of the heavy metal fellas poledancing, rehearsing, chatting general crap and seeing who can look like the biggest idiot....

OH YEA.. BUT WE ARE PROMOTING THEIR  NEW E.P TOO... CHECK OUT THEIR FACEBOOK FOR UPCOMING EVENTS NEAR YOU!!!

 BOXING DAY MADNESS!!!!!!

 By Laura Goldsbury Noy

MORE than 300 people braved the cold and braced the shores of Sidmouth for the annual Boxing Day swim... ARE THEY MAD?!

The Boxing Day swim and fancy dress competition was much more popular than last year, perhaps due to the kinder weather, and there was a huge increase in entries taking part in the competition.

Young people came out in full force, armed with a few festive drinks to brave the cold and by god did the people of Sidmouth go wacky!!!

Many joined in wearing fancy dress costumes. Some dressed in festive outfits, from elves and presents to Santas and wise men with others opting for more general fancy dress attire from condiments and animals to cops and robbers.

Perhaps it was the young girls dressed as shepards riding bouncy hoppers that really got me?! But none the less, what a laugh!

Alongside those who regularly swim on Boxing Day were many watching from the sidelines, who enjoyed the festivities and fun while helping to raise money for charity, with some swimmers being sponsored to brave the cold on Sidmouth’s Esplanade.

Those swimming for charity included  staff from Tesco, who dressed festively and dipped to raise money for this year’s charity The Alzheimer’s Society.

The swim was said to be a major success with hundreds gathering to watch the many swimmers join in the Boxing Day celebrations and the Esplanade outside Port Royal bursting with onlookers as the fancy dress winners were announced and some well earned drinks were handed out.

Sidmouth’s Regatta Committee, alongside branch members of RNLI, would like to thank everyone who took part in this year’s swim and thank all those for their support with their huge turn out on the day.
